Mount Sinai faculty, students, staff, volunteers and alumni are welcome to register for the following classes:
EndNote X5: Advanced Features
Prerequisite: EndNote X5: An Introduction
Description: If you are comfortable with the basic functions of EndNote X5 and want to find out what else this program can do for you, sign up for this class. You'll learn to use some of the power functions in EndNote X5, such as inserting images and tables into your document, customizing reference types and output styles, creating custom bibliographies and connecting to full-text journal articles online. You will also practice using EndNote X5's Full Text feature to automatically locate available PDF articles and quickly add them to your EndNote Library.

EndNote X5: An Introduction
Prerequisite: None
Description: In this class, you will practice using EndNote X5 to collect, organize and maintain a 'library' of references, find and save full-text journal articles, and insert and format references in a MS Word document. The class will also cover searching and exporting citations from PubMed and Web of Science.

Mount Sinai Data Warehouse
Prerequisite: None
Description: The Mount Sinai Data Warehouse is a database that allows research on de-identified patient data for cohort identification and quality control studies. The Data Warehouse strictly follows all HIPAA and New York State privacy regulations and registrants must have a current active affiliation with Mount Sinai. In order to take the class, you MUST have a current Extranet or Sinai Central account.

Photoshop: Preparing Images for Publication
Prerequisite: None
Description: This class is an introduction for students, researchers and faculty who need to apply best practices in editing and preparing images for use in posters and manuscripts. Topics covered include resizing, cropping, layers, color and contrast adjustment, and annotation.

PubMed in a Nutshell with Advanced Search
Prerequisite: None
Description: In this class, we'll give you tips on how to do an effective keyword search, and then we'll show you how to use the Advanced Search tools to further focus your MEDLINE queries. You'll also practice using MeSH terms (Medical Subject Headings) for even more precise results; and you'll learn how to display, print, save or e-mail your citations in a variety of formats. Finally, we'll make sure you know how to connect to full-text from PubMed using both the LinkOut service and the Levy Library's OpenURL / FIND IT service.

RefWorks 2.0
Prerequisite: None
Description: RefWorks 2.0 provides a new, intuitive interface for the Web-based bibliographic citation management program licensed by the Levy Library. This class introduces using RefWorks to organize your research, import references from MEDLINE/PubMed and generate bibliographies. You will also use Write-N-Cite to insert and format references in a MS Word document.

MEDLINE is the NLM’s premier bibliographic database in the field of biomedicine. LinkOut, a service of the PubMed interface, allows the Mount Sinai community to link directly from MEDLINE to the full text of thousands of journal articles.
